This is an outreach to invite you to be a Waste Less Windsor Zero Waste Volunteer at the WINDSOR KABOOM BASH at Keiser Park on Friday, July 3!!  I am sending this email to everyone I know at WeAct and other places.  Deadline to get a tee shirt is tomorrow, Monday, 3pm!  SIGN UP!

We need four more volunteers, at least 2 each in Main and Breakdown – here are the shifts:

  • Setup 3pm – 5pm – put tent up and recycling signs on 60 or so trash cans.
  • Main shift – help attendees to recycle right – 5pm – 8pm
  • Breakdown – 8pm – 10:30pm, watch fireworks, pack up and go home!

What’s in it for me?

  • Rock bands all day long.  Come early or stay late with your blanket.
  • Free entry to main event area close to fireworks at Keiser (worth $10)
  • Free “KABOOM” tee shirt (very nice)
  • A lot of PRIDE for helping Windsor environmental efforts!

Volunteering at this event is more FUN than you think!  You are right in the middle of things, and with a purpose.  There are tons of vendors for you to get snacks, dinner, and drinks!  And we will have a cooler of soda and some munchies.

I hope to see you there.  I have done it before and it is a gas!  Bring sunscreen and a hat!!

Do Something Important this Summer
Volunteer with Waste Less Windsor

Have fun volunteering with Waste Less Windsor (WLW), a group of volunteers, students, businesses, service organizations, and the Town of Windsor. We help the Windsor community promote better recycling, sustainability, and the reduction of landfill waste. We do this through education and volunteering.

WLW is the major force for the Town of Windsor to help the attendees at the concerts, Thursdays, June 4, 2026 – August 27, 2026, about 4:30pm-8:30pm, go green! We’ll be there to help!

See the Frequently Asked Questions for more information on what we do at the events on the Town Green.

At the Summer Nights on the Green and other events, Waste Less Windsor is a group of volunteers who help concertgoers recycle correctly — recycle in a manner where the amount of waste that ends up in the landfill – the gray disposal cans – is minimized. WLW volunteers care about how recycling is done and want to contribute to getting it right through education! We usually can maintain about a 70% diversion rate, which means 70% of the stuff goes to recycling or compost, without a lot of contamination. That’s really good!

So, June 4 2026 through August 27 2026, at the Summer Nights on the Green Concerts and other events, a team of Waste Less Windsor Recycling Helpers (Volunteers) will be at our booth and near the colored recycling bins throughout the Town Green to help the attendees recycle their cups and food ware correctly.

BIG NEWS!

In 2024, for the first time ever at the concerts, there were no single-use plastic cups given out! Only aluminum cups which are fully recyclable and reusable. Concert-goers get a discount when they bring back their metal cups to use again for refills, further reducing waste! So, use and keep your aluminum and classic WLW steel cups!
